Low Tech Utopia is a micro-factory that produces artistic objects. It seeks forms of alliances between digital music-making and tip-of-the-fingers craftsmanship.

In a time and space when artists reach the limits of all-digital expression, they open new creative spaces by taking back old artisanal techniques. Including these techniques in their artistic practices, they make them into newly immediate, intuitive creations.

From this approach is built a subtle, beyond words language, that makes creating new worlds possible. These new utopias fit in a slow-ripening process of re-balanced digital/analog clusters.

An Utopist Low Tech work is a phonographic cylinder from 1877 pasted onto an off-beat sound, a sample made out of hieroglyphs, a xylographic Facebook cover photo, or even_________________*.

Adressing the abundance of quickly-available, quickly-digestible digital work, Low Tech Utopia offers musical and physical objects that the audience can enhance, fill in, then share with its own contributions.

We seek to promote an open, viral, interactive movement that generates a flux of audience-modified work growing and developping with anyone’s participation.

Low Tech Utopia est une micro manufacture d’objets artistiques, curieuse de formes composites entre bricolages numériques et savoirs faire à la main.

Quand les artistes atteignent les limites d’une expression ultra numérique, ils s’ouvrent un nouvel espace créatif en se réappropriant d’anciennes techniques artisanales. Celles-ci, réincorporées dans leurs pratiques, les enrichissent au service de créations à nouveau immédiates et intuitives.

De cette démarche se construit un langage sensible, au-delà des mots, qui rend possible l’émergence de mondes nouveaux. Ces nouvelles utopies s’inscrivent dans un processus, à maturation lente, d’agrégations numériques/analogiques rééquilibrées.

Une œuvre Low Tech Utopiste c’est un collage de cylindre phonographique de 1877 sur un son off beat, un sample de hiéroglyphes, une photo de couverture Facebook en xylographie ou bien pourquoi pas _________________________*.

Face à l’abondance de contenus immatériels simplement consommables, Low Tech Utopia propose des objets musicaux et plastiques que le public peut enrichir, compléter à sa manière puis partager, augmentés de ses contributions.

Ainsi nous impulsons un mouvement ouvert, viral et participatif qui génère un flux auto-alimenté d’œuvres évoluant librement au gré de tous et de chacun.
